Generally, awesome.
I had a brisket sandwich and collards. The brisket was tender and smoky. Not too much, not too little.
Collards were savory and delicious.
My son had the fried chicken and wasn't a fan. Thigh is good, but needs to be cooked a little longer or it only comes across fatty.
We shared BBQ fries with burnt ends. Holy smokes was that a hot mess of delicious. Highly recommend.
Waiter was good but somewhat absent.
It's a nice bbq setting, meant to get dirty and easily cleaned but not trashy.
It is easily walkable from the Leather and Financial Districts.
Price is fair for the good quality.
I recommend going on what would normally be a busy time since it moves kind of slow off-peak. -

If you're in the seaport/south station area and you want some smoked meat stop on in this place. We didn't even need to use the GPS you could smell the food cooking from blocks away.
Felt comfortable from the time I walked in. Matthew was great. He suggested great beer.
The brisket was tender and well seasoned. I enjoyed the collards and the kale salad is huge and delicious! I would definitely recommend and return to this establishment. -

I've had takeout from here twice and both times have been pretty satisfied. My first time I had the Smoke Shop's brisket which I found to be a bit on the fatty side and not as tender as I would have like it to be. For my sides I had the zucchini salad and corn bread, neither of which knocked me out of the park but were nonetheless decent.
My second time to the Smoke Shop I had the ribs, which was definitely a better choice. The meat on the ribs was fall-off-the-bone tender and perfectly lathered with the right amount of BBQ sauce. The half rack was plenty big for a filling dinner along with the corn bread and coleslaw. Coleslaw also probably the best of the smoke shop's sides I've tried IMO.
If you're craving BBQ in Boston, definitely think the Smoke Shop is worth a try! -

Oh man, where do I start. Living in Texas I thought for sure I would hate this place, but it did not disappoint in any way whatsoever. The location is wide open inside. Luckily we were able to sit by the open window and it was the perfect 70 degrees out. A lot of tables though and staff was attentive.
Tried a few different meats but the best by far was the Burnt Ends. They were phenominal, layered up with sauce and their sauce is divine I might add. I was pleasantly surprised it wasnt a dry piece of meat given other bbq I've tried in Boston was a sad experience. The Brisket was also super juicy to where it easily slid apart - the way it should be! It was a bit fatty on the edges but had the charred edges and you don't need any sauce. Im glad they left on the fat on to cook that flavor in properly. It did have a little fat on the edges but nothing that would make a difference. Pulled pork was ok but definitely had nothing those other 2. With all the places opening up around with their Vegan junk, this place is one to remember for just being down-right delicious.
Only downside is the price. Seriously, the meat was good but a combo plate for lunch shouldn't be $24 in any state! -

LATE NIGHT SNACK REVIEW
After living in Arkansas, I became accustomed to very good barbecue. But that's something I haven't seen as much in Boston. Enter Smoke Shop BBQ.
I came here around 10:30 PM for a late night snack with my girlfriend after a boat cruise at the Seaport. It wasn't too busy so we had our choice of seats.
We weren't "dinner-level" hungry but we still wanted something to fill us up before going to sleep so we each went for a sandwich. We shared the fried chicken sandwich and the pulled chicken sandwich with sweet & spicy Cole slaw and fries as the sides.
The fried chicken was moist and perfectly fried, but it also had lettuce and tomato which added a contrast to it. On the other hand, while it tasted good, the pulled chicken was on the dryer side and it was only chicken on a bun (which the waitress warned us about). I would have loved some other element on the sandwich like cole slaw. For the sides, the fries were addicting and I couldn't stop eating them. The cole slaw was good but not the best I've had. A nice little addition to every plate is a tasty slice of watermelon which is also a nice touch.
When I come back, I definitely want to try some of the other meats on a platter.
